Types of anesthesia

ANESTHESIA IN DENTISTRY IS DEFINED TO:

Application anesthesia

This type of anesthesia is a local (surface, terminal) anesthesia.

Most often it is used for such manipulations as:

  • removal of milk mobile teeth,
  • removal of calculus dentals,
  • manipulation at the edge of the gum,
  • fittings of crowns and bridges,
  • when teething,
  • suppressing the gag reflex when taking impressions,
  • anesthesia of the injection site before carrying out a deeper local anesthesia. Application anesthetics are available as a spray or ointment. Such a drug is applied with a cotton swab or gauze.It acts very quickly, superficially anesthetizes the treated area and does not apply to deep-lying tissues. It should be noted that with the advent of application methods of anesthesia, the treatment of teeth really became completely painless at all stages.

The most common method of anesthesia in dentistry is the infiltration technique of local anesthesia. It is better known as “freezing,” which is associated with the patient's feelings after such anesthesia.

This type of anesthesia is used for various dental procedures:

  • in the treatment of teeth and canals;
  • operations on the pulp of the tooth;
  • during removal and implantation of teeth;
  • a number of other operations.

The depth and duration of anesthesia is sufficient for a dental intervention within 60 minutes.

Medlaif Clinic uses the most modern technologies, including in the field of anesthesia. We offer our clients dental treatment using The Wand computer anesthetic delivery system. This system is computer controlled. Built

the microprocessor provides constant control over the dose and pressure of the anesthetic supply, thereby ensuring its absolutely painless introduction.

This system is recommended to use:

- for small patients, the treatment of primary teeth (caries, pulpits);

- patients in an active psychological state associated with various dental procedures;

- belonephobia;

- fear of piercing objects.

Conduction anesthesia

During conduction anesthesia, the anesthetic drug is injected deeply to the trigeminal nerve, blocking one of its branches. In this case, the analgesic effect is observed in a certain area, which this branch innervates.

Conductive anesthesia is used in surgical interventions in the area of large molars and the central group, in operations on the gums, mucous membranes and large in volume and time interventions.

Stemanesthesia

This type of anesthesia consists in the introduction of an anesthetic in the region of the base of the skull to block all branches of the trigeminal nerve. Thus, the whole trunk of this cranial nerve is blocked. This type of anesthesia is used in the hospital for surgical interventions, in case of severe pain syndrome, neuralgia, trauma and large areas of inflammation.

General anesthesia

It`s used in general anesthesia dentistry or anesthesia and has a number of features that one need to know:

The use of general anesthesia is an infrequent phenomenon and is used only if indicated.

The dental clinic must be licensed to use general anesthesia for the treatment and prosthetics of the teeth.

If there are no contraindications and high-quality drugs are used, anesthesia in dentistry is completely harmless and does not give complications. But preference is given to combined anesthesia (premedication with anesthesia).

Attention!

If you have drug intolerance or any diseases (hypertension, heart and vascular diseases, liver, diabetes, allergies, hypersensitivity), you should definitely tell to your doctor. Only after that he will be able to choose the necessary tactics for conducting anesthesia, making it reliable and safe for you.
